Description
Doing some work in the Laundry Room with Alonso, Maggie's lovebird, on my shoulder. He took to flight and found a perch on the silk "Bird of Paradise" flower arrangement in the hallway between the Gilt and Bombay Rooms. Now a senior citizen, and still a real sweetheart, at 12. He likes nothing better than snuggling up to one's neck and being petted. Often going to sleep there, sometimes inside Maggie's hair.
Of all our birds, Alonso is the ONLY one not a rescue. Bred, born, and hand fed from a nestling at Clearwater Aquarium in Jamestown, NY. If it were not for him, we never would have rescued the rest. The hookbill species are extremely intelligent, with Alonso being the equivalent of a 2-3 year old human child.
